Paddleboards & Patio Brews: A Summer Day at Avery Brewery
Share
There’s something about a spontaneous summer pickup that hits different. This morning, we scored a paddleboard off Facebook Marketplace—meaning Brian and I officially both have boards now. No more sharing or sitting out while the other floats. It’s freedom, sunshine, and tandem glides from here on out. 🛶☀️
After grabbing the board, we cruised straight to one of our favorite Boulder gems: Avery Brewing Co.
Let me just say… they understood the assignment.
The patio was buzzing, the beer was cold, and the food? Chef’s kiss. We rolled in with our pups in tow and were greeted with dog bowls ready to be filled and AstroTurf beneath our feet—Hank was in absolute heaven. 🐾💦
It was 99 degrees and I had my go-to in hand: Avery’s Naughtea. A little sweet, totally refreshing, and the perfect hard tea for a heatwave afternoon. My partnerstayed loyal to his favorite Avery IPA, bold and hoppy as ever.
There’s something sacred about these little pauses. The in-between moments where nothing is rushed and everything is enough.
What We Loved at Avery:
- My Pick – Naughtea: A hard tea that’s dangerously refreshing in triple-digit heat. Sweet, light, and just the right kick
- Another Good Pick – Avery IPA: Bold, citrus-forward, and a total classic
- White Rascal: A citrusy Belgian-style white ale that’s light, crisp, and sunshine in a glass
- El Gose: Tart, salty, and made for post-adventure hydration
- Brewpub Burger with bacon & green chile: Absolutely fire
- Dog-friendly patio with AstroTurf + water bowls = 10/10 for the furry crew
- Chill mountain views, local energy, and all the good vibes
What to Know Before You Go (A Few Cons):
Because no place is perfect—and we keep it real around here.
- No table service anymore: You’ll need to scan a QR code at your table to order food, which feels a little impersonal if you’re in the mood to be taken care of.
- Two separate tabs: Food and drinks are ordered in two different places—one via your phone, and the other at the bar—so you’ll likely end up with two transactions for the same meal.
- Not super convenient if you’re wrangling dogs, kids, or gear: The self-serve model works best if you’re traveling light and don’t mind bouncing between your table and the bar.
That said, knowing this ahead of time definitely helps. The chill patio vibes and unbeatable beer selection still make Avery worth the visit.
If you’re ever near Boulder, Avery Brewing Co. is a must. Bonus points if you show up with lake hair, paddleboards in the truck bed, and happy dogs at your feet.
Here’s to summer rhythms, good food, new gear, and always saying yes to the next small adventure. 💛
